Sustainability
Producing more with less.
For LIMUERA, sustainable agriculture begins with efficient agriculture.
Every litre of water, unit of electricity and square metre of growing space matters.
Our production systems are therefore being designed to improve efficiency while creating a reliable source of fresh food.

Sustainability at a glance
Water
Recirculation, harvesting, storage and recovery.
Energy
Efficient systems, targeted lighting, planned solar.
Crop Management
Monitoring, prevention and biological controls.
Waste & Packaging
Composting and responsible materials.
01Water
Designed around one of agriculture's most important resources.
Water management is fundamental to the LIMUERA production model. The campus is being designed to combine efficient hydroponic irrigation with capture, storage and recovery so that water is used carefully and reused wherever practical.
The objective is to reduce unnecessary water consumption while protecting production reliability.
Planned measures
- Hydroponic irrigation delivering water directly to the root zone
- Recirculation of irrigation water wherever practical
- Rainwater harvesting from greenhouse roof area
- On-site water storage
- Condensate recovery from environmental-control systems
- Precision crop irrigation
02Energy
Efficiency first. Renewables as we scale.
Environmental control requires energy, making efficiency an important part of greenhouse design.
LIMUERA's strategy includes efficient environmental equipment, targeted LED lighting used only where it provides a production benefit, and the planned integration of solar generation as the campus develops.
Planned measures
- Efficient environmental-control systems
- Targeted LED crop lighting
- Planned solar integration
03Crop Management
Prevention before intervention.
Integrated pest management combines environmental control, crop monitoring, preventative practices and biological approaches to maintain crop health while reducing unnecessary chemical intervention.
Planned measures
- Routine crop monitoring
- Preventative controls
- Integrated pest management
- Biological approaches where suitable
04Waste & Packaging
Closing the loop on what leaves the greenhouse.
Plant waste generated by cultivation can be composted and reused within agricultural operations.
Packaging strategy will increasingly favour recyclable and compostable materials while continuing to protect freshness, quality and food safety.
Planned measures
- Composting of plant material
- Responsible packaging
- Recyclable and compostable materials where practical
Our principle
Sustainability that supports food security.
The strongest agricultural system is one capable of producing food consistently without consuming resources unnecessarily.
That principle sits at the centre of LIMUERA's approach.
